Port Performance

The Port Performance dataset, originated from IHS Markit, is a combination of empirical port call data from operators of more than 80% of global fleet capacity and maritime vessel movements and vessel characteristics data.

This dataset enables objective and granular benchmarking of global container port and terminal performance for competitive insights, analysis of port and terminal delays, and application in programs to improve cargo velocity, provide excellent customer service, and help evaluate physical and digital infrastructure needs. The dataset features highly developed analysis concepts that support performance benchmarking on multiple metrics and filters.

This dataset includes:
  • Tracking of 180,000 port calls per year at more than 1,000 terminals in 500 ports globally
  • Metrics including Total Port Hours, Vessel Waiting and Cargo Unloading Times, Berth Productivity, Call Size and Vessel Size Development, Gross Crane Moves Per Hour, Crane Intensity, and more
  • Regional Port Performance indices
  • Historical coverage from January 2017
