Ship Movements, originated from IHS Markit, includes port and anchorage callings, vessels currently at ports, berth callings, and AIS ship positions.

Use this data to track ship movements with unrivaled global coverage. We are the largest global provider of combined satellite and land-based AIS data. This tailored service enables you to integrate the movement of ships into your own GIS system.

This dataset includes:
  • Current Port Calls: Ships currently in port. Once a ship has departed the port it will no longer appear in the next data extract and will instead appear in the Port Movements dataset.
  • Berth Calls: This dataset provides global vessel callings to Berths. Callings are reported when a vessel enters and subsequently departs a berth zone.
  • AIS Positions Terrestrial: Latest ship positions reported on a daily basis. Ships report their positions in AIS messages which are picked up by our network of over 3,000+ land-based antenna.
  • AIS Positions Combined: Latest ship positions reported on a daily basis. Ships report their positions in AIS messages which are picked up by our network of over 3,000+ land-based antenna and two satellite providers. This dataset reports AIS ship positions picked up by both satellite and antenna and offers better coverage of ship positions than the terrestrial dataset.
  • Port Callings and Anchorage Callings: Calling data is reported once a vessel has sailed from one of the 12,000+ geofenced zones, which are linked to the ports database.

Please note this dataset includes both Ship Movements and Ship Movements History. The field count for Ship Movements is 107; the field count for Ship Movements History is 30.
