What is Marketplace?

S&P Global Marketplace is a discovery tool that enables you to easily search traditional and alternative datasets from across S&P Global and curated third-party providers available via Cloud, Data Feed, API Solutions and Capital IQ Pro. S&P Global Marketplace also provides a suite of machine-enabled solutions from Kensho and others so you can make the most of your data.

We know few decisions are made with discrete data, no matter how unique that data is deemed to be. Decisions are made as multiple sets of information converge and then people apply their own insights, experience, expertise and tools to take action.

For that reason, we take the extra step to bring together datasets as logical packages, with data linked, structured and cleansed in advance.

With our differentiated data, robust data solutions, and flexible distribution channels, you will be equipped to solve problems and build solutions with confidence. Leverage our flexible technology to enhance your proprietary analytics, build and enrich data warehouses, discover patterns unique to your business, and more.

How do I access the platform?
The S&P Global Marketplace platform is accessible to both S&P Global clients as well as prospective clients looking for the right offering for their business needs. If you would like to evaluate sample data, benefit from our data visualization, or gain access to our data dictionaries please use the ‘Sign In’ button on the top right of the platform to log in. If you do not have an existing account, you may create one by clicking ‘New User Sign Up’ under the ‘Sign In’ tab.

What is S&P Global Marketplace Generative AI Search?

Marketplace Generative AI search powers an improved discoverability and exploration of S&P Global offerings on Marketplace through question and answer. Built in partnership with Kensho, the AI-innovation arm of S&P Global, the Large Language Model (LLM) leverages the information and metadata on Marketplace along with User Guides from the Marketplace Support Center to allow you to ask questions about our offerings. The answer you receive may not be all-encompassing and is designed to get you started on your data and solution exploration journey.

We are continually evaluating additional data sources to add to the model. If there are specific questions you’d like to receive answers to, or information you’d like to see added, please let us know here.

How can I access S&P Global Marketplace Generative AI Search?

What is your data selection process?

Our Quality Commitment
We’ve been perfecting the art of data for over 60 years, and we’re not stopping anytime soon. That’s why we take our alternative data curation process seriously. Prior to onboarding any third party vendors, we review all datasets through a rigorous process. During this process we:

  • Eliminate Noise: Not all data is created equal. The data landscape is vast so we do the heavy lifting for you. We screen out the noisy, or trendy, datasets that won’t provide you long-term value. Leveraging our data expertise, our scouting team reviews hundreds of vendors to find content that complements S&P Global’s core fundamental, industry specific, supply chain, and textual datasets.
  • Assess Quality: S&P Global’s core content offers strong point-in-time historical and global coverage and we seek data partners that enhance our offerings for our clients. We evaluate datasets and seek partnerships with providers that demonstrate strong historical and geographical coverage that can link to our core content.
  • Use Cases Validation: We work with both internal and external stakeholders to validate potential use cases to ensure all datasets will unlock valuable insights, further eliminating potentially noisy datasets. Our feed strategy is focused on enhancing our S&P Global offerings by adding content that can enhance our core data offerings so you can get the most out of our data.
  • Quantitative Review: Analysts from our Quantamental Research group conduct a detailed data review of all third party content. The level of analysis applied to our process has resulted in approximately 5% of potential vendors becoming partners. Our Quantamental Research team is made up of CFA charter holders, former practitioners and PhDs who evaluate data through the eyes of our customers.

What is your data due diligence process for third-party providers?
As a part of the data vetting process, S&P Global reviews all third-party content under the widely accepted data standards. We review whether or not each third-party dataset (i) contains Personal Identifiable Information, (ii) contains material non-public information (MNPI), and (iii) has the appropriate ownership rights, including the ability to redistribute and commercialize data in a compliant manner. We also conduct a vendor risk management assessment to evaluate risks associated with delivery and business continuity. If you have specific questions on our due diligence process, please contact us as support.datafeed.mi@spglobal.com.

Is this the same as the S&P Capital IQ Pro or S&P Capital IQ platforms?
No, S&P Global Marketplace is a discovery tool that enables you to see all the data available via Cloud, Data Feed, API Solutions and Capital IQ Pro. Additionally, you cannot access full datasets, or all historical data, from the S&P Global Marketplace as you can when you have a license to the S&P Capital IQ Pro or S&P Capital IQ platforms.

I use other S&P Global products, do I have full access to Marketplace?
If you have current S&P Global log in credentials, simply click the ‘Sign In’ button and enter your email address. From there, you will receive an email to finalize your Marketplace access.

Can I get access to sample data, data dictionaries or coverage visualizations?
Yes, if you would like to see sample data, data dictionaries, or coverage visualization sign in with your S&P Global platform login information or create an account by clicking ‘New User Sign Up’ under the ‘Sign In’ tab on the top of the site.

Can I access all the related research and other insights?
Yes, our team of quantamental researchers, S&P Global data journalists and data analysts produce research and insights to help our clients utilize the full power of our data. Research that pertains to a specific dataset is showcased on the respective data profile and can be accessed via links on the right side of the page.

What’s the best way to use the Sample Data and Data Dictionaries?
The Sample Data and Data Dictionaries on each dataset profile page are available to aid in the initial evaluation of data usage. While it is not the complete listing of all fields available via the dataset, sample data provides a slice of information from within the larger data offering. The Data Dictionaries align with the data delivered via feeds, and may differ from the exact data available through other channels.

If I subscribe to third-party data, do I have to have another contract?
For any third party datasets available on Marketplace, you will simply contract through S&P Global Market Intelligence. If you are an existing client, you can work with your Relationship Manager to add new datasets, inclusive of third-party datasets, to your existing subscription.

What is a Trial License?
We understand the importance of testing data prior to including in your analysis or investment process, so we offer trial licenses so you can trial various datasets for a specific period of time. As with any trial, data can only be used for testing purposes for a short testing period. To begin a trial license, simply complete the ‘Request More Information’ form on any dataset on Marketplace, or reach out to your Relationship Manager. Commodity Insights and third party datasets are not available for trials through the Trial License Program.

What is a Research Subscription?
A Research Subscription allows clients to access our data for research purposes at a discounted price. Once you bring the data into production, we bring you onto our standard use terms and pricing. The Research Subscription doesn't apply to all data sets, so speak with your Relationship Manager for details. Data usage in these subscriptions is limited to non-production environments. To start a research subscription, simply complete the ‘request a trial’ form on any dataset on Marketplace or reach out to your Relationship Manager. Platts and third party datasets are not available through Research Subscriptions.

Can I access the Marketplace Support Center?
The Marketplace Support Center provides comprehensive resources on Market Intelligence datasets and solutions, such as user guides, technical guides on feed, cloud, and API delivery, and the latest product releases. To access the Marketplace Support Center, sign in with your S&P Global Marketplace login credentials or create a Marketplace account by clicking "New User Sign Up" under the "Sign In" button at the top of this page.
